Ordering
How long does a custom pet portrait take?
Most UK orders are delivered 4-7 business days from order placement. The breakdown: 24-hour preview generation (12 hours for memorial orders), then 1-3 days for any revisions you request, then 1-2 days for production and dispatch from a UK trusted print partner facility, then 2-3 days in transit. International orders add 2-4 days for shipping. Our shipping policy covers regional timelines in detail.
What photo do I need to upload?
A front-facing or three-quarter angle photo of your pet's face works best, ideally well-lit and at least 800 pixels on the longest edge. We can work with imperfect inputs — blurry shots, awkward angles, decade-old prints — but recognisability of the face improves dramatically with better source material. The minimum requirements are: face roughly visible, eyes detectable, breed identifiable.
Can I order a portrait of multiple pets?
Yes, up to four pets in a single composition at no additional charge. Provide a separate photo of each animal; we composite them into a unified scene. The order form includes a 2-3 sentence description field where you can specify how the pets should interact — sitting together formally, looking at each other, one nudging the other awake.
Pricing
How much does a SnoutCraft pet portrait cost?
Three sizes, transparent pricing: Small (30×45 cm) £94.95, Medium (40×60 cm) £134.95, Large (60×90 cm) £194.95. The price covers the artwork, fine-art print, pre-assembled solid wooden frame in your choice of four colours, free worldwide delivery with full tracking, and a free high-resolution digital download. There are no add-ons at checkout.
Are there any extra costs?
No. No frame upgrades, no rush fees, no shipping surcharges by region, no per-pet charges for multi-pet portraits. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay. UK customers don't pay customs because production happens locally; international customers don't pay duties for the same reason in 14 of our 14 print countries.
Do you offer discounts?
Occasionally for seasonal events (Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas — see our seasonal landing pages when active) or for multi-portrait orders. Sign up to our newsletter from the homepage footer if you want a heads-up before promotions launch.
Process
How are SnoutCraft portraits made?
Every portrait is generated by a technology-assisted pipeline tuned for the specific art style you choose, then reviewed by our team for quality before delivery. Customers receive a high-resolution preview within 24 hours, can request unlimited revisions, and the portrait only enters production after explicit approval. See our process for a step-by-step walkthrough.
Are these real paintings?
No, and we don't claim they are. SnoutCraft portraits are artist-directed, with human quality review, then printed on fine-art paper with rich pigment inks. The visual result has painterly textures, brushwork, and pigment variation similar to a real painting, but the production method is digital generation followed by fine-art printing. We say what we are.
Where are the portraits printed?
Through our trusted 14-country print network — UK orders are produced in the UK (typically London or Bedford), US orders in the US, Australian orders in Australia, and so on. Local printing minimises transit time, customs friction, and shipping carbon footprint.
Quality and materials
What fine-art print is used?
Fine-art print — a heavyweight cotton-polyester blend pre-stretched on a solid wooden frame. The print is matte-finish to reduce glare and pre-coated for pigment-ink absorption. The frame is solid wood (not hollow), pre-assembled, ready to hang on arrival. We deliberately avoid quoting specific fine-art print thickness, frame depth, or wood species because these vary by regional print facility — the qualitative description above is consistent across all 14 countries.
What are the frame colour options?
Four colours, all at the same price: Black (best for contemporary interiors and bold contrast), White (versatile, suits Scandinavian aesthetics), Natural Wood (light pine tone, fits Scandi-modern and rustic), Dark Wood (walnut tone, suits traditional settings).
Can I request a digital-only version?
Every order already includes a free high-resolution digital download alongside the physical fine-art print. The digital file is yours immediately upon approval — useful for sharing on social media, including in sympathy cards, or printing additional copies later. We don't currently offer a digital-only product (without the fine-art print), because the unit cost is dominated by the artwork generation and review, not the physical print.
Memorial portraits
What's special about memorial orders?
Three differences from standard orders: 12-hour preview window (rather than 24 hours), priority queue placement so reviewers handle them first, and a careful read of your order notes by the reviewer before generation begins. If your reference photo shows your pet during illness or in their final months, we'll work from a healthier-period photo if you can provide one — the portrait should memorialise their life, not the manner of their passing.
Can I include a date or name on the portrait?
Yes, in the order notes describe what you'd like included — for example, "Henry, 2009-2024" in elegant script in the lower-right corner. We can render text within the portrait scene (on a collar tag, an engraved nameplate visible in the frame) or add it as a clean overlay. Clean overlay works best for memorial portraits because it doesn't crowd the painterly composition.
Returns and refunds
What's your returns policy?
Two stages. Before approval: unlimited revisions, no time limit, no fees. Request a full refund at any time during the preview phase, no questions asked. After approval: the fine-art print enters production, and as a personalised good under UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (Regulation 28(1)(b)), it's non-refundable. However, if the delivered framed print is damaged in transit, defective, or substantially different from the approved preview, we replace it free within 14 days. Full detail in our refund policy.
Can I cancel my order?
Yes, anytime before approval. Email hi@snoutcraft.com with your order number; we cancel and refund within 5-10 business days to the original payment method.
Shipping
Where do you ship?
Worldwide, free of charge, with full tracking. Currently 14 countries have local print facilities, which means the portrait is produced in the recipient's country and avoids customs entirely: UK, US, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Japan, China, Mexico, India. For other countries, the portrait ships from the closest facility and may incur local import duties, which the recipient is responsible for; we flag this clearly at checkout.
How long does shipping take?
UK orders typically arrive 3-5 business days after dispatch. Rest-of-world orders 4-7 business days. Tracking links go out by email when the parcel leaves the print facility. Our shipping policy breaks this down by region.
